Inspector Kurt Wallander (Kristen Henriksson) and Martinsson (Douglas Johansson) of the Ystad Police Department are confronted which a series of mysteries that at first seem unrelated including someone empting Wallander’s car of gasoline, to slashing the tires of Martinsson’s car, to Wallander finding a women hanging from the ceiling in his apartment completely drained of blood without leaving a trace. Shortly afterwards Martinsson’s daughter Therese (Sally Carlsson) disappears. At the same time Wallander’s daughter Linda (Johanna Sallstrom) a recent graduate of the Police academy is with Stefan Lindman (Ola Rapace) at the target range when her weapon explodes in what seems like an accident, but, wasn’t, the weapon was tampered with. Wallander believes the events are connected and attempts to find the link, including why a chopped off dolls head was left in a field. However, the investigation is constantly blocked, someone within the Police Department is manipulating the investigation. It’s now a cat and mouse game between Wallander, Martinsson and a perpetrator who is everywhere and nowhere, and has developed a highly intelligent and evil plot of planned attacks on them and their daughters. The hunters have become the hunted and it’s an irrational race to the end game
