Dave (Eddie Murphy) is an alien that crash lands on Earth. But Dave isn't all he seems. He's actually a ship that has a bunch of aliens controlling him. The aliens are searching for a way to save their home planet. Unfortunately for the aliens, complications arrive when the Captain(Eddie Murphy) falls for a single mother Gina Morrison.(Elizabeth Banks) More problems arise when the police start tracking Dave. And to add to the confusion, the Captain's best friend Number 3(Gabrielle Union) is in love with him and he must choose between her and Gina. Will the Captain be able save his planet and find true love?
